What is a Microsoft Azure Tenant?

In Microsoft Azure, a tenant is a dedicated and isolated instance of the Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) service that an organization uses to manage its users, groups, applications, and devices.

When an organization subscribes to Microsoft Azure, it creates a tenant that is associated with its Azure subscription. The Azure AD tenant provides a secure and centralized identity and access management solution for the organization’s users and applications.

Within an Azure AD tenant, the organization’s administrators can manage user accounts, assign roles and permissions, set up multi-factor authentication, and define policies for access to Azure resources and services. They can also register and manage applications, configure single sign-on (SSO), and integrate with other identity providers.

Each Azure AD tenant is independent and isolated from other tenants, meaning that user accounts, applications, and policies are specific to that tenant and cannot be accessed or shared with other tenants. However, tenants can be connected using Azure AD B2B or B2C to enable collaboration and access to resources across organizations.

Azure tenants provide a secure and scalable identity and access management solution for organizations using Azure, enabling them to manage and control access to Azure resources and services effectively and efficiently.
