What is an AWS Authorized Instructor?

An AWS Authorized Instructor (AAI) is an individual who is authorized by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver training on AWS technologies and services. AAIs are subject matter experts who have been trained and certified by AWS to deliver high-quality training on AWS products and services to customers and partners.

AAIs must meet certain requirements to be authorized by AWS, including passing an exam and demonstrating proficiency in delivering AWS training. They must also maintain their certification by continuing to deliver AWS training and by keeping up-to-date with the latest AWS services and features.

AAIs are authorized to deliver both classroom-based and virtual instructor-led training on AWS technologies and services. They have access to AWS’s official training materials and resources, and they are expected to deliver training that meets AWS’s high standards for quality and accuracy.

AWS Authorized Instructors are an important part of the AWS training ecosystem, helping to ensure that customers and partners have the skills and knowledge they need to effectively use AWS services and technologies.

Prequisites

To become an AWS Authorized Instructor (AAI), you need to meet the following prerequisites:

Hold a current AWS certification: You must hold a current AWS certification in the area(s) in which you wish to teach. This demonstrates your expertise in AWS technologies and services.

Have instructional skills or experience: You need to have at least one year of instructional skills or experience, such as teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring. This can be in any technical or non-technical field.

Pass the AAI exam: You need to pass the AAI exam, which tests your knowledge of AWS products and services, as well as your ability to deliver effective training.

Meet performance requirements: You must meet certain performance requirements, such as delivering a certain number of training sessions per year.

Apply for the AAI program: You need to apply for the AAI program and pay the annual fee. The fee covers access to the AAI program benefits, such as access to AWS's official courseware, software licenses, and support, as well as invitations to exclusive events and training opportunities.

It’s important to note that meeting these prerequisites doesn’t guarantee acceptance into the AAI program. AWS reviews each application to ensure that all requirements are met before granting AAI status. Additionally, AAIs must maintain their certification and meet ongoing performance requirements to remain authorized by AWS.
