What is an MCITP Enterprise Administrator?

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification for Enterprise Administrator was a certification that validated an IT professional’s skills and knowledge in designing and implementing enterprise-level IT solutions based on Microsoft technologies.

MCITP Enterprise Administrators were responsible for managing and maintaining complex IT infrastructures, including:

  1. Designing and deploying infrastructure: They designed and deployed enterprise-level IT infrastructures, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  2. Managing and maintaining servers: They managed and maintained servers running Microsoft Windows Server, including configuring server roles and features, managing server storage, and monitoring server performance.
  3. Designing and managing security: They designed and managed security solutions for enterprise-level IT infrastructures, including implementing network security, managing user accounts and permissions, and implementing security policies.
  4. Managing and maintaining messaging infrastructure: They managed and maintained messaging infrastructure using Microsoft Exchange Server, including configuring and managing mailboxes, managing message flow, and troubleshooting messaging issues.
  5. Designing and implementing virtualization solutions: They designed and implemented virtualization solutions using Microsoft Hyper-V, including configuring and managing virtual machines, implementing virtual networks, and managing virtualization storage.

However, it’s worth noting that the MCITP certification has been retired and is no longer available to earn. Microsoft now offers a range of certifications for IT professionals who want to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in implementing and managing Microsoft technologies, including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and the Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certifications.
