Azure Business to Customer (B2C) Identity Services

Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Business-to-Customer (B2C) is a cloud-based identity management service that enables organizations to authenticate and manage customers accessing their web, desktop, and mobile applications. B2C is designed for organizations that need to support millions of customers, and it provides a secure and scalable platform to manage customer identities and access to applications.

Azure AD B2C allows organizations to provide customers with a self-service registration and sign-up process for applications, along with the ability to sign in with social accounts like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google. Additionally, Azure AD B2C provides a secure authentication mechanism to protect customer identities, including multi-factor authentication, and the ability to customize and brand the login experience.

Here are some examples of how Azure AD B2C can be used:

  1. E-commerce applications: An online retailer can use Azure AD B2C to authenticate customers, manage their profiles, and enable them to make purchases securely.
  2. Healthcare applications: A healthcare provider can use Azure AD B2C to authenticate patients and allow them to access their medical records securely.
  3. Banking applications: A financial institution can use Azure AD B2C to authenticate customers, enable them to manage their accounts, and perform secure transactions.
  4. Travel applications: A travel company can use Azure AD B2C to authenticate customers and provide personalized travel recommendations and bookings.

To configure Azure AD B2C, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Azure portal and select Azure AD B2C from the left-hand menu.
  2. Create a new Azure AD B2C tenant, which will serve as your identity management environment.
  3. Define your application, which includes defining the user attributes that will be collected during registration and login, as well as the social identity providers that will be used for authentication.
  4. Configure the user flows that define the user journey through the application, including sign-up, sign-in, and password reset.
  5. Customize the user interface to match your brand, including the login page and any other pages where customers interact with the application.
  6. Test the application to ensure that the user flows and authentication mechanisms are working as expected.
  7. Deploy the application and start providing customers with secure access to your services.
