What is the Microsoft MCITP Lync Server?

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification for Lync Server was a certification that validated an IT professional’s skills and knowledge in designing, deploying, and managing Microsoft Lync Server-based solutions in an enterprise environment.

Microsoft Lync Server, now known as Skype for Business Server, is a unified communications platform that allows users to communicate through instant messaging, voice and video calls, and online meetings. MCITP Lync Server certified professionals were responsible for managing the Lync Server infrastructure, including:

  1. Planning and designing Lync Server infrastructure: They designed and planned Lync Server infrastructure, including servers, networks, and clients.
  2. Deploying and configuring Lync Server: They deployed and configured Lync Server, including configuring server roles, security, and topology.
  3. Managing and maintaining Lync Server: They managed and maintained Lync Server, including monitoring server performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  4. Integrating Lync Server with other systems: They integrated Lync Server with other systems, such as Exchange Server and SharePoint, to provide a unified communications experience.
  5. Ensuring security and compliance: MCITP Lync Server certified professionals ensured that Lync Server-based solutions were secure and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

However, it’s worth noting that the MCITP certification has been retired and is no longer available to earn. Lync Server has also been replaced by Skype for Business Server, which has since been integrated into Microsoft Teams.
