What is the Azure Secure Score?

Secure Score is a feature in Microsoft 365 and Azure Security Center that provides a numerical value to measure the overall security posture of your organization. The score is based on a set of security controls and practices, and it reflects the level of security configuration, monitoring, and response capabilities of your organization.

Secure Score provides a dashboard with a list of recommendations, each with a potential score improvement. These recommendations cover a wide range of security areas, such as identity and access management, data protection, device management, and security monitoring. Each recommendation has a corresponding point value, which reflects the potential impact of implementing the recommendation on the security of your organization.

For example, some of the recommendations in Secure Score might include enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all users, configuring data loss prevention (DLP) policies to protect sensitive information, and keeping device software up to date with security patches. Each of these recommendations will have a different point value based on the importance of the recommendation and the potential impact on your overall security posture.

As you implement the recommended security controls and practices, your Secure Score will increase, indicating that your organization’s security posture is improving. You can use Secure Score to track your progress over time, set goals for improvement, and compare your score with industry benchmarks. Additionally, Secure Score provides guidance and resources to help you implement the recommendations and improve your security posture.

Secure Score is a valuable tool for organizations that want to prioritize and track their security efforts, and ensure that they are taking the necessary steps to protect their data and users.
